RED AEGIS January 2016 Update
about 8 years ago – Sun, Jan 31, 2016 at 10:19:23 PM

Hello again folks.

RED AEGIS Core Rulebook

Chapter 10 is back from layout and ready for you to download. As with last month, the download link is attached to your BackerKit survey. You can retrieve your BackerKit survey by navigating to https://redaegis.backerkit.com and entering your kickstarter email address. The option to download Chapter 10 is at the end of the survey, along with some documents from previous updates.

I’m currently wrapping up the final edits on Chapter 11, which is the final chapter to need major revisions (woo hoo!). So, by this time next month I should be able to share the full, albeit unannotated, manuscript with everyone.

Annotations

One final task remains before I can send the final PDF to DriveThruRPG… Annotations. These are small explanatory comments or images that exist in the outer margins of the main manuscript text. It has been our intention since the start of design to use the annotation space for designer commentary—similar in feel to the deleted scenes or director’s cut extras found on a special edition DVD or Blu-Ray disc. I’d even like to solicit annotations from our backers, as a small token of appreciation for your patience. More information on that in a future update.

Until next,

RED AEGIS 2015 Year End Update
over 8 years ago – Thu, Dec 31, 2015 at 08:01:09 PM

Hello again folks.

RED AEGIS Core Rulebook

Chapter 6 is back from layout and ready for you to download. Instead of sharing a Dropbox link, I attached the Chapter 6 Preview to your BackerKit survey. You can retrieve your BackerKit survey by navigating to https://redaegis.backerkit.com and entering your kickstarter email address. The option to download digital documents is at the end of the survey. If you have physical books in your pledge, please ensure that your mailing address is up to date in the survey.

Revisions on Chapter 10 are complete, but work on Chapter 11 is still ongoing. Based on our recent trajectory, you’ll get your hands on Chapter 10 in January and the completed Core Rulebook in February.

With the final edits wrapping up, I’ve recently reached out to PrintNinja to get an updated quote and solidify the details of the print run. The standard Core Rulebook will be a 320-page case bound hardcover with matte coated 85lb. paper. The Limited Edition rulebook will be enhanced with a burgundy leather cover, gilded edges, and sequential foil numbering. As the books are being printed in China, there is an estimated 9-week turnaround time to ship the pallets from oversees.

RED AEGIS Unleashed

I’m currently focusing 100% of my efforts on finishing up the Core Rulebook, but after it’s sent off to the printer I will not be idle. I have not forgotten about the stretch goals unlocked during the Kickstarter campaign, and the first project on the slate in 2016 will be RED AEGIS Unleased. Unleased is a trilogy of adventure modules, each accompanied by short fiction that ties into the adventure arc. I expect the first of these adventures to release in the third quarter.

Until next,

RED AEGIS November 2015 Update
over 8 years ago – Mon, Nov 30, 2015 at 10:43:29 PM

Hello again folks.

Chapters 7 is complete and back from layout. You’ll find a link to download the chapter in your Kickstarter inbox.

Editing on Chapter 6 is complete and next in queue for layout. Layout being the process of converting the manuscript text from Microsoft Word into its final print form in Adobe InDesign.

So, where does that leave the project as a whole?

Two chapters, 10 and 11, need additional revisions. Chapter 10 is mostly there. It just needs an editing pass to tighten the prose and cut out extraneous bits. Chapter 11 needs mechanical revisions, which is more time consuming. I’m going to work hard to have both completed by the end of December, but the final layout will likely bleed into January.

The original goal was to have RED AEGIS delivered to you by August 2013, and as of this post the game is 16 months late. That’s inexcusable and has surely tested your patience. Hopefully, however, the PDFs released since the summer have demonstrated that tangible progress is being made and that you WILL receive the game you helped create.

Once again, thank you for your patronage.

RED AEGIS Halloween 2015 Update
over 8 years ago – Sat, Oct 31, 2015 at 08:59:28 PM

Hello again folks.

Furnace 2015

Earlier this month, the RED AEGIS Roleplaying Game made an appearance at the Furnace 2015 convention in Sheffield, England. What’s impressive to me is that this was not an event organized by Vorpal Games. Instead, the diligent preparation for this demonstration was carried out by one of our backers! Remi even went so far as to print cards with landmark summaries and follower statistics! Below are some pictures from the demonstration.

Chapter 5 Update

When I learned of Remi’s intentions for running RED AEGIS at Furnace 2015, I sent him an updated copy of Chapter 5, which details the core mechanics of play. The version I’m sending each of you is even newer (Remi’s copy didn’t have the final artwork).

You’ll find a link to download the chapter in your Kickstarter inboxes.

Once again, thank you very much for your continued patience.

RED AEGIS Sept 2015 Update
over 8 years ago – Wed, Sep 30, 2015 at 10:56:35 PM

Hello again folks. Just a quick update for you this month.

Work on polishing the manuscript continues. I met recently with our lead editor and layout designer to discuss final steps towards completing the master PDF, and we’re still on track for a final release before the holidays.

Feedback on the “We Wayward Children” game scenario I posted last month has been invaluable. Thank you! I still owe you a preview of the artifacts chapter, which I will post as soon as it’s out of layout.

Once again, thank you very much for your continued patience.
