Inkle
Author and game designer extraordinaire, Erik Scott de Bie, has turned over his manuscript for The Awakening, a thrilling jaunt of interactive fiction that will be included in the forthcoming RED AEGIS Player's Guide.
For backers whose pledge included the Digital Boxed Set, you'll find a Inkle code for The Awakening in your digital downloads at https://redaegis.backerkit.com. This solo adventure reads like a Choose Your Own Adventure book of yore, where YOU are the hero of the story--a young scion facing unimaginable peril, whose actions, should you survive, will set in motion the dawn of an indomitable millennia-spanning civilization.
Player's Guide
The initial conception of the book was to simply replicate the initial chapters of the core rulebook, add the solo-adventure and call it done. Instead, I want to retrofit the Player's Guide into a Starter Set of sorts, offering player's more detailed advice on scion/clan/tribe creation than was provided in the main game manual. Alas, design work on the Player's Guide has been slow. I don't yet feel comfortable sharing a release date, but I plan on sharing a beta manuscript with backers in the next update.
Until next,

It’s been a little over a month since the hardcover release of RED AEGIS and it’s been amazing to read the positive feedback the book has received. The game certainly took longer to deliver than anticipated, but now that it’s here and I can hold it in my hands, I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. I cannot thank each of you enough for having made RED AEGIS a reality. The game simply would not exist without your support.
Work on our next project, the RED AEGIS Player’s Guide, is progressing. Author and game designer Erik Scott de Bie has come on board to turn my rough Choose-Your-Own-Adventure style scenario into a compelling branching narrative. Through this introductory story, you’ll play the forbearer of your tribe and learn of the harrowing events that led to the Awakening and first contact with a world anchor. This slice of interactive fiction will be included in the Player’s Guide, but I’m also considering releasing it online as part of the RED AEGIS Digital Tools. More on that possibility in a future update.
Thank You!
Thanks once again to every one of our amazing backers. If you’ve enjoyed RED AEGIS and want to help us spread the word, please be sure to mention the game on social media, write a review on DriveThruRPG, or simply tell your friends about us. RED AEGIS is undoubtedly a niche product, but every little mention counts.

I have received word from Print Ninja that the shipping container with RED AEGIS has cleared customs at the Port of Los Angeles and will arrive by the end of the week!
Confirm Mailing Address
If you ordered a hardcover game manual, it is very important that you confirm your mailing address is current and accurate at Backerkit. To do so, navigate to https://redaegis.backerkit.com/, enter your Kickstarter email address into the field and press the “Get My Survey” button. You will then receive a survey link through email where you can examine your mailing address. I plan on mailing out the first wave of books the weekend after next, so please double check your address as soon as possible.
What’s Next?
I’m still working on the solo Choose-Your-Own-Adventure style scenario for the Player’s Guide. I admit that progress slowed to a crawl throughout the holidays, but I’m back at it and it’s shaping up nicely. After the Player’s Guide is complete I will turn my full attention once more to the Digital Tools (which I spoke about briefly back in Update #37). Those of you waiting for the RED AEGIS Hacker’s Guide, Unleashed, or Tactics must remain patient as they are at the end of the priority list I’m afraid.
Until next time!

Advanced copies of the hardcovers arrived in the mail from Print Ninja this afternoon. Needless to say, I'm thrilled to hold the physical books in my hands and couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the finished product.
Thanks again to each of you for making RED AEGIS a reality!

Update 50!

Hardcover
The good news is that the RED AEGIS Roleplaying Game is at the printer! The bad news is that they only just received the print-ready files from us last Thursday. That puts us in the digital proofing stage, where they apply our documents to their print templates and we sign off on the master proof.
In the last update, I mentioned that that I hoped to have the hardcovers in hand by November. Clearly that’s not going to happen, and I apologize for missing yet another date. But I cannot convey to you in words how excited I am as a first-time publisher to be at this stage in the process. Working with PrintNinja on the details of custom endsheets, spot gloss, and paper finish is just plain fun.
Speaking of which, the specs for the limited-edition hardcover are now finalized. This edition of the book will have gilded page edges and a burgundy leather cover with debossed logo inlaid with gold foil. The cover will also be stamped with sequential gold foil digits, giving each book a unique number.
PDF
Earlier today I uploaded a revised copy of the RED AEGIS Roleplaying Game to DriveThruRPG. This version has a lot of corrections small and large, including annotations, PDF bookmarks and a hyperlinked table of contents. The most up-to-date file is titled “REDAEGIS_GameManual_October2016.pdf”
Player's Guide
The next project on the schedule is the RED AEGIS Player’s Guide. I’m not comfortable sharing a release date for this book, as I’m clearly horrible at estimates. Work on the solo “choose-your-own adventure” style scenario continues however and I’ll be able to share more details on the Player’s Guide next update.
